Start Here
If you're new to BIG Feelings World, this is the best place to begin.
BIG Feelings helps children, teens, adults, families, educators, and professionals better understand emotions through simple tools, practical resources, and meaningful conversations.
Our goal isn't to get rid of big feelings.
It's to better understand them so we can choose what comes next.

Core Message
Every Feeling Belongs
Every feeling is an opportunity.
Feelings aren't problems to solve or signs that something is wrong with you.
They help us notice what matters, understand our experiences, connect with others, and decide what comes next.
Some feelings are comfortable.
Some are difficult.
Every feeling belongs.
Every choice matters.

EXPLORE
What Are BIG Feelings?
BIG feelings are emotions that feel especially strong, confusing, or difficult to manage in the moment.
They might show up as anger, sadness, fear, disappointment, embarrassment, excitement, jealousy, overwhelm, or something that's hard to name right away.
BIG feelings are a normal part of being human.
They don't mean something is wrong.
They mean something important is happening inside.

Frameworks
Why Feelings Matter
Feelings help us pay attention.
They can point us toward what feels exciting, unfair, uncomfortable, scary, meaningful, or important.
They don't tell us exactly what to do.
They give us an opportunity to slow down, understand what's happening, and choose what comes next.

Core Message
Big feelings are signals, not flaws
One of the most important ideas behind this work is simple:
“
Feelings are not signs that something is wrong with you. They are signals.
🔍
They show you what matters to you
💡
They show you what feels hard
🤝
They show you where you may need support
Big feelings do not make you "too much."
You do not need to be fixed because you are not broken.
You can learn to notice what you're feeling, understand it more clearly, and respond in a way that feels more supportive and intentional.

Feel • Pause • Choose
A simple way to navigate BIG feelings.

Feel
Notice what you're feeling.

Pause
Take a moment to understand what's happening before you respond.

Choose
Decide what helps and what comes next.

Practice
Emotional awareness creates choice
When we slow down and notice what we're feeling, something important happens:
We create more choice.
Instead of reacting automatically, we can begin asking ourselves:

What am I feeling?

Where do I notice it in my body?

What might have triggered this?

What do I need right now?

What can I choose next?
Emotional awareness does not make feelings disappear.
It helps us move through them with more understanding, more compassion, and more intention.
